The behind-the-scenes story of Bob Weir’s newest project: orchestrating the Grateful Dead’s songs, as well as a collection of essays exploring the thoughtful elements of the Grateful Dead’s lyrics.

Author of part one of this two-part book Helen Baldovinos, takes you from the birth to fruition of Bob’s cherished idea of hearing their songs “dressed to the nines” in the lush tones of a symphony orchestra.

And part two of this book is a series of reflections authored by Jaime Baldovinos on the ties of the lyrics to the culture from which they sprang. In a foreword to the book, Bob states his vision for this project. An added bonus is 110 photos of the orchestration project, plus more than 60 photos of Grateful Dead shows from the 1980’s.
